Nominating a Charity
Only current members may nominate SLO County charities. Be sure your charity is recognized as a 501(c)(3) organization. If you're not sure, check its website or ask them.
In both spring and fall, all members will be given the chance to put their name and a charity into the hat. Three members will be randomly chosen to share information about their charity.
During our spring in-person meetings, the three chosen members make simple, informal, 5 minute presentations. This is done verbally. A few minutes are given for each speaker to respond to questions. Again, only a member can share information during this presentation.
During our fall donation drive, all members are given the chance to submit a written nomination form and three of those are randomly chosen. The three written nominations are then sent to every member and votes are tallied. Winner is announced by email.
Nomination Suggestions
1. What is the name of the organization and where is it located?
2. What is the mission of the organization?
3. What does it do? How? Who and how many does it serve?
4. How would this organization benefit from our donation? How would the funds be used?
5. Who is responsible for the use of funds?
